As anyone who knows me would tell you, I’m a San Antonio Spurs fan. When I first started watching basketball in the mid-80’s, I pretty much followed two teams – the Phoenix Suns and Detroit Pistons, representing my current and home states. In 1989, the “Admiral” joined the Spurs and turned the franchise around – I became an instant fan. Not only is David Robinson one of the best players of all-time, by most accounts he’s an even better person.
Back on 11/29/09, the Spurs held a tribute for David to celebrate his induction to the Basketball Hall of Fame! Below find links to both the Spurs tribute and the YouTube video from his Hall of Fame induction speech – the guy is 100% class act.
I’ve started adding some family (and other) pictures to my MobileMe Gallery. The family photos are password protected, so please contact Amy or myself if you need the username/password. I’ve also posted some images from my last couple of trips to OSCON from 2008 and 2009, including some great tech pictures from the Silicon Valley area.
As time allows, I will post some past photos from family vacations for you to view and will attempt to do a better job in the upcoming year of posting new pictures from current events.
After much hard work, my wife, Amy has completed the requirements and sent off the paperwork to become a certified doula (CD) through DONA International. I’m very proud of her accomplishment and hard work. I know how much she enjoys helping women enjoy their pregnancy and birth.
Interesting video below from Walt Mossberg. To be honest, the least interesting part is his statements about the 3G iPhone — After all, we all know it’s coming.
The ‘99 Ford Windstar was starting to fall apart on us (like a year ago), so we finally decided to get a new minivan for the family. I typically buy used cars 1 year old to avoid the depreciation hit when driving it off the lot, although with the 2008 models out, we were able to buy a new 2007 for only a slight premium over used after rebates, and with everything we wanted.
After two years of little (or no) updates, I have decided to install some blogging software and “give it a go” at keeping the site updated. Look for an updated Family section soon with some new pictures.
13.January.2006 — Greeted with the excitement usually reserved for rock stars, Scott McNealy, Bill Joy, Andy Bechtolsheim, and Vinod Khosla offered on January 11 their visions of a world made better and safer by open, shared technology. Speaking to a capacity crowd of more than 400 people at the Computer History Museum in Mountain View, Calif., Sun’s cofounders, plus moderator and “fifth Beatle” John Gage, also dished fascinating history–Sun tried to acquire Apple!–and laughed over their shared history of 24 years. After hosting the website myself in 2001-2002 (on a Novell NetWare 5.1 Server), I moved the website to my .Mac account for the past 3 years (2003-2005). Looking over the new features of .Mac combined with the updates in iLife ‘06, I no longer felt there was enough of a value to continue paying $99/year. Don’t get me wrong, I still think it’s a good service for Mac owners with multiple machines — but I really hated not having access to Perl/CGI and PHP for dynamic content creation. I also didn’t like the fact I had to point chisenski.com to the .Mac URL using a DNS redirect or frame redirect (it wasn’t a true “A” record in DNS). This will be the first time since owning a Macintosh that I won’t be using iTools/.Mac for something. With that being said, I have moved my web hosting to a local company, StartLogic. I have used them in the past for a couple of project without any major issues, and their pricing is pretty good for the services they provide. I will be working on the website in my spare time to repost and update my blog entries and pictures. Although, don’t expect some big multimedia, whiz-bang site. I’m going to keep things pretty simple.
